A FEW TIPS AND TRICKS FOR LOOKING AFTER YOUR POLES...

SHORTENING YOUR POLES

Changing the length of your poles is not very straightforward, as there are a few bits that get fitted after the cane is cut, so we do not recommend doing this at home. If you have advanced DIY skills and access to tools and want to give it a go please contact us and we will send you detailed instructions. Bear in mind that depending on your specific cane this might still not be possible, or it might compromise the look as your handle might end up covering the logo.

REMOVING WRIST STRAPS

Please note wrist straps are NOT recommended for skiing off piste or near trees.

All our poles are sent with wrist straps fitted but if you mainly ski off piste and prefer to not have them you can remove them. This is easily done, all you need is a Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the screw at the top of the pole and pull on the strap, it will come out. You can replace the screw to avoid water filtering into the inner part of the bamboo cane.

FITTING/CHANGING BASKETS

The baskets have a screw thread inside, which screws onto the thread you can see on the back tip section of the pole. To fit them you just screw them on until they reach the ridge above and get locked into place. To remove them and change them you simply unscrew them and pull them off. Remember each cane is different, so in some cases they might need a little "encouragement" to go on and start "biting" onto the thread...

OILING

We oil the canes before sending them to you, and in most cases this will be enough for a full season's use. Depending on your usage and the weather they are exposed to you might find them getting dry/brittle, in which case we recommend a light coat of linseed oil, gently rubbed in with a lint-free cloth (or an old t-shirt!). Oiling at least once a year will keep them strong and flexible.
